October 10, 2006. PA Hamburg and the Bremen U.S. Center organized the 3rd U.S. Day in Bremen, attracting a crowd of more than 550 Bremen residents, including around 300 high school students to Bremen’s World Trade Center. Visitors learned about student exchange and opportunities for study in the U.S., received answers to their visa and American Citizen Services questions by a consular official, discovered new aspects about America from IRC specialists, and listened to a lecture on the U.S. economy and U.S. economic policies by the Consulate Political and Economic Officer. The highlight was a town hall meeting by Consul General Duane Butcher with 24 high school students who discussed a range of topics, including climate change, capital punishment and the war against terror. Visitors also had a chance to meet with representatives from 14 German-American organizations and to attend cultural events.
