June 19, 2006. Consul General Duane C. Butcher, Wismar Senator for Education and Culture and Youth and Sports Thomas Beyer, and the Wismar City Library inaugurated an America@yourlibrary partnership. Senator Beyer welcomed the opportunity to provide Wismar’s young people with a broad selection of books on American society and culture and stated “knowledge would replace clichés”. The opening day program included a discussion by CG Butcher with 60 students from Große Stadtschule Geschwister Scholl and Gerhard Hauptmann Gymnasium and a reception attended by city representatives. The “About the USA” CD-ROM was distributed to the guests.
