April 24, 2006. Uta Trampe, deputy director of the City Library in Wismar in Mecklenburg-Pomerania, presented “Impressions from U.S. Libraries” to an audience of 65, including librarians, members of the “Förderverein für die Stadtbibliothek” (Friends of the Library Association) as well as the city manager and the general public. She singled out U.S. libraries for their exemplary library services, customer orientation, and programs for minorities and children. Ms. Trampe enhanced her presentation by impressive photographs taken while visiting the Unites States with the International Visitor Leadership Program America@YourLibrary that took place from March 6 to 24. The regional daily Ostsee-Zeitung in Wismar published a front-page article featuring her visit on April 19, 2006.
