January 31, 2006. Consul General Duane Butcher spoke at Hamburg University before 70 students on “German-American Relations Today and Tomorrow.” Butcher was the first of six U.S.-knowledgeable speakers, who will cover patriotism and the constitution, the U.S. as world policeman, the American Dream, volunteerism, and the right to bear arms. The series has been organized by the Friedrich Naumann foundation for political education, with support from the Public Affairs section of the American Consulate in Hamburg. Consul General Duane Butcher talked about the success of the German-American partnership and the common values and interests that unite the U.S. and Germany today and in the future.
