U.S. Consulate Day in Kiel

Consul Butcher in a conversation with students

August 31, 2006. Working in close cooperation with the Kennedy Infocenter, a German-American Institute, Consulate General Hamburg hit the road and spent the day in the northern port city of Kiel providing public affairs outreach and consular services. Hamburg Consul General Duane C. Butcher addressed 70 students and teachers answering a wide-range of questions on U.S. foreign and domestic policies. IRC staff members held training sessions for community librarians and teachers on sources of information about the U.S. on the internet, and PA Hamburg staff members talked to students about study opportunities in the U.S. The Consular section, with support from colleagues in Frankfurt and Berlin, offered consular services, including visa information and American Citizen Services.
