Representatives of Immigrant Organizations Meet with Ambassador Timken and Wife Sue

November 1-3, 2006. As part of a November visit to the Hamburg consular district, Ambassador and Mrs. William R Timken, Jr. engaged with numerous representatives of Muslim and immigrant organizations to learn more about integration efforts in northern Germany. Mrs. Timken visited the Ulu Camii Mosque on November 1 in Kiel where she met with members of the Turkish community "Türkische Gemeinde in Schleswig-Holstein e.V." On November 2, Consul General Duane Butcher hosted a luncheon for the Ambassador and Mrs. Timken to meet with Muslim representatives and integration experts representing a broad range of NGOs, political parties and the Islamic community in Hamburg. Also on November 2, Mrs. Timken met with the staff and program participants at Vericom, an NGO dedicated to intercultural understanding and education in Hamburg.
