Ambassador Timken Announces State Department Grant For Integration Project

November 3, 2006. Ambassador William R. Timken, Jr. announced the award of a major State Department grant of $ 250,000 for a joint project conducted by CDS International, Inc. in New York and the Körber Foundation in Hamburg. The grant will fund a two-year project examining and comparing means of integrating immigrant and minority populations in Germany and the U.S., with the objective of establishing positive relations between U.S. and German ethnic minorities. CDS International Executive Director Robert Fenstermacher from New York and Körber Foundation board member Dr. Wolf Schmidt participated in the press event. The Ambassador also met with prizewinners of the Körber Foundation’s USable transatlantic ideas contest to learn about their projects and encouraged further applications of American best practices in Germany.
